Corsair Bay Reserve/Motu-Kauati-Iti - play space construction

What

We are renewing the play space in Corsair Bay Reserve/Motu-Kauati-Iti. This includes new play equipment and safety surfacing, new seating and new pathway connections.

Why

The play equipment in Corsair Bay Reserve has reached the end of its life and is no longer fit for purpose. New amenities will be constructed, which will provide a safe and improved play experience.

9 Feburary 2026 to 30 April 2026. Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 6pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Details

  • The play space at Corsair Bay Reserve is being renewed. The upgraded area will feature a large climbing frame, three slides, a three‑bay swing set, two see‑saws, an imaginative boat structure, musical play elements, nature‑based play features, talking tubes, and new seating and pathway connections.
  • The wider reserve will remain open throughout the project; however, the walking tracks leading to and from the playground will be temporarily closed.
  • Christchurch City Council has engaged Gill Landscapes to undertake the construction works.
  • The project is expected to take approximately eleven weeks to complete, although this timeframe is dependent on weather conditions.
