Nor’West Arc - cycleway, wastewater upgrades and street renewal

Update

What

The timing for the upcoming traffic management transition has changed slightly to what was communicated in the last notice. The wider project involves upgrading wastewater pipes and other underground services, extending the Nor’West Arc Cycleway, and completing a street renewal.

Why

To upgrade old wastewater and water supply infrastructure; to make the roads safer and more accessible for cyclists and pedestrians; and to reconstruct the road and footpaths, which are in need of renewal.

Where

Aorangi Road (from Bateman Avenue to Condell Avenue), Bryndwr.

When

Early August 2025 to late December 2025. Monday to Saturday, 7am to 6pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Contact

The contractor is Isaac Construction. Phone 027 323 0056 or email MCRnorwestarc@isaac.co.nz, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
Please advise Isaac Construction if you have specific property access requirements e.g. medical visits, large deliveries, home help or any planned works.

Details

As stated in the previous works notice, from 31 July (end of day), two-way traffic will be reinstated on Wairakei Road. However, the changes on Aorangi Road (south), outlined below, will only take effect from early August. Therefore, the road closure currently on Aorangi Road, between Wairakei Road and Colwyn Street, will remain in place until the transition.

Additionally, while we previously communicated an October end date for this stage of works, it is now expected to be December 2025.

Traffic Impacts

Impacts on Aorangi Road (south)

  • At the intersection of Brookside Terrace and Aorangi Road, both Brookside Terrace approaches will have a no entry/exit in place.
  • Colwyn Street residents will need to use the one-way system when entering and exiting their street.
  • Detours are in place to redirect traffic around the closures.
