This entire project will be completed in three stages and involves upgrading the wastewater pipes, installing a new stormwater network and making water supply upgrades; completing the northern-most section of the Nor’West Arc Cycleway (Ilam Road / Aorangi Road intersection to Matsons Avenue / Harewood Road intersection); and renewing Aorangi Road. For each stage/location, the package of work will be delivered together, with all work completed by mid-2026.
Stage 1 location: Stage 1 work will be located on Aorangi Road, between Brookside Terrace and Condell Avenue and will be ongoing until September 2025.
This works notice relates to Stage 1, Phase 1, which involves a three-week closure at, and around, the Wairakei/Aorangi intersection, as shown on the map.
Phase 1 work scope: Replacing a manhole located at the center of the intersection, renewing a large wastewater pipe on Wairakei Road, and starting wastewater works along Aorangi Road.
To minimise disruption to the transport network, this work is being carried out during the summer holiday period when the roads aren’t as busy.
At times, night work may be required. Prior to this happening, those who may be impacted by the work will receive further notification from the contractor. Subscribers of the e-text service will also be notified (details below).
