Details

  • As part of the Greers Langdons traffic lights installation, we need to reconstruct and resurface the road at the Greers/Langdons Road intersection.  The scope of work includes milling and removing the existing road surface and rebuilding the road in layers. This includes laying new road metal and asphalt on top.
  • We are completing this work with a full closure of the Greers/Langdons Road intersection (24 hours/day) to allow for a larger work area and for the work to be completed quicker.  The contractor's team will be working day and night to complete this work as quickly as possible.  Closing the intersection ensures the workers are kept safe.
  • There will be increased construction noise and vibration at times, but we will do our best to keep this to a minimum.
  • This will be one of the final major works for the project and, once it is completed, we can create more space in the intersection for traffic.  This will improve the traffic flow along Greers Road while the remaining signals work takes place (scheduled for completion by the end of November 2024).
  • The carriageway works will be completed over three days (1 to 3 October 2024) and has been planned to be completed during the school holidays when traffic is quieter, and before the Christmas shopping period in the final months of the year.
  • This work is weather dependent, so if it is wet then the resurfacing work will be moved to the following day. We will provide updates if there are changes to the planned work.  To receive this update via text message, please send us your contact information via the contact information above.

Traffic impacts

  • The full closure of the Greers/Langdons Road intersection will begin from 6am on Tuesday, 1 October 2024 and finish at 6am, Friday, 4 October 2024.
  • There will be no access for vehicles to travel through the Greers/Langdons Road intersection.  The closure points shown on the map will be in place to help detour traffic around our worksite.  Access to properties within the closure area will be maintained and managed by the contractor on site.
  • Greers Road will be closed between Paprika Place (just past Bishopdale School) and Hoani Street.
  • Langdons Road will be closed between Greers Road and Oakland Street.
  • Reynolds Avenue will remain closed at the intersection with Greers Road.
  • While this work takes place, all on-street parking within the work area shown on the map will be temporarily removed to allow for safe working space.
  • Please follow the signposted detour route.  For a map of the detour routes, please visit ccc.govt.nz/bishopdale-papanui.

Other work in the area

  • This work has been programmed between the 24-hour closures on Harewood Road and Langdons Road for the Northern Line Cycleway railway upgrades.  The two projects are working together to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.
  • However, during the  Langdons/Greers Roads intersection closure, there will be a nightly road closure (10pm to 6am) at the Langdons Road railway crossing.  This will mean traffic will need to use the side roads and signposted detours during this time.
  • Stop/go traffic management will also be in place at the Harewood and Langdons Roads railway crossings during the day.  Please allow extra time for your travel if the crossings are on your journey.
  • For more information about the work in Bishopdale and Papanui, please visit ccc.govt.nz/bishopdale-papanui.

Information for residents and businesses

  • Access to properties and business for vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained around the work site. At times, cyclists may be asked to dismount and use the footpath. Please follow the signage provided and feel free to speak to the Isaac Construction staff on site.
  • Driveway access to properties will be maintained.  However, we may need to work in front of driveways from time to time.  We will try and give you plenty of notice for this.  However, if you need to get in and out of your property and we are in your way, please just talk to one of the Isaac Construction staff members, and they will make sure you can use your driveway.
  • There will be traffic controllers at the road closure points to help residents and businesses access their properties.
  • Please put your bins out as usual by 6am on your collection day.  Our team will move them and return them if needed.

We know this work can be disruptive, and we appreciate your co-operation and understanding.
