Details

What are we doing?

  • As part of the works to extend the Northern Line cycleway from Tuckers Road through to Main North Road, we are upgrading the railway level crossing at Tuckers Road.
  • The upgrades for the cycleway include the installation of velostrail crossing panels (track matting).
  • The KiwiRail maintenance upgrades include railway track replacement, shaping the ballast up to the railway sleeper height, and formation renewals beneath the pedestrian crossings.

Railway crossing closures

    • The road will be closed on either side of Tuckers Road railway crossing, as per the dates and work times given above. Outside of these work times, the crossings will be open to traffic and a pedestrian access made available.
    • On Sunday 24th and Monday 25th, the 24-hour crossing closure at Tuckers Rd crossing will mean no access to traffic or pedestrians. This is due to KiwiRail replacing railway track across the length of the road.
    • Detour routes will be in place, with signage to redirect traffic around the closures. Please allow extra travel time if you will be affected by the closures.

Pedestrian access

  • During work hours, pedestrian and cyclist access across the railway lines will be available, under escorted crossing by our workers. Outside of these work times, the crossings will be open to traffic and a pedestrian access made available.
