Magazine Bay - Marina demolition

What

We are removing the Magazine Bay Marina, including all of the marine materials shown shaded in red in the diagram below. This work is part of the wider Naval Point – Te Nukutai o Tapoa Development Plan.

Why

A significant amount of the marina structure is in poor condition. The reconfiguration of the Magazine Bay Marina was approved by the Council as part of the Naval Point – Te Nukutai o Tapo Redevelopment Plan. Learn more about the plan at ccc.govt.nz/naval-point.

From Monday 11 September 2023 to early November, 2023. Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Details

What are we doing?

  • Council contractors, Fulton Hogan, are about to start removing the Magazine Bay Marina. They will be using an excavator on a barge to carry out the work.
  • The timing of the work is dependent on weather and marine conditions. The majority of the work will take place Monday – Friday 7:00am – 5:00pm

How does it affect me?

  • There will be no marine or pedestrian access, under or on the marina structure, while the works are underway.
  • Access to the public boat ramp will be maintained.
  • Yellow floating buoys will be installed around the demolition work area, please maintain a safe distance away from the buoys when passing.
  • There will be increased traffic movement around the worksite, both on the water and around the car park area.
