Tennyson Street - safety improvements

What

We’re improving the pedestrian crossing points and installing traffic calming on Tennyson Street to make it safer for everyone to get around.

Why

To make it safer for everyone to get around their neighbourhood, especially for children to get to and from school.

Where

Tennyson Street, Seddon Street, Southampton Street and Norwood Street, St Martins.

When

6 June 2023 to 7 July 2023. Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm (weather/site condition dependent).

Details

  • There will be a one-way closure for traffic heading West on Tennyson Street for the duration of the works. Traffic will be detoured via Eastern Terrace - Fisher Avenue - Beckenham Street.
  • There will be road closures at both intersections of Southampton Street and Norwood Street. A detour will be in place for Southampton Street traffic via Longfellow Street. Norwood Street traffic will be detoured via Fisher Avenue.
  • Please follow directions of the onsite traffic management team at all times.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.
  • There will be construction noise during the works, but we will be working to keep this to a minimum.
  • The timing of this work is dependent on weather and road conditions. We will provide regular updates during the construction work.
