Bus Route 17 - bus stop improvements

What

Our contractors will be working in your area to make improvements to bus stops and pedestrian safety along route 17. The improvements will be tailored to the specific needs of each stop and may include line marking, signage, installation of tactile pavers, storm water drainage, kerb modifications, renewal of the bus stop shelters and seats in selected locations, pedestrian refuge islands, and new seats and shelters.

Why

Our main goal is to make bus stops safer and more accessible for those who rely on public transportation, as well as for pedestrians who use these areas.

Where

Wairakei Road, Rossall Street, Carlton Mill Road, Orchard Road (selected stops only).

When

Work will start from May and will be completed in late September. Depending on the extent of work needed at each bus stop, work should be completed in 2-3 days for most, with more extensive upgrades taking 5-10 days. Monday to Saturday, 7am and 6pm (weather/site conditions dependent).

Details

  • Night works - line marking needs to be undertaken at night between 7pm and 6am to provide the teams a safer work environment. These will be carried out from Sunday evening to Friday morning.
  • If night works are needed for any other aspects of the work, we’ll let you know in advance.
