Durham Street / Cambridge Terrace from Kilmore Street to Tuam Street is currently being upgraded.
Durham Street, the main southbound road corridor on the western side of the Central City, is being enhanced with landscaping and improved traffic flow.
It will have two lanes of one-way traffic, on-street parking on the western side, and a shared path for cyclists and pedestrians on the eastern side next to the Avon River.
Trees, landscaping and rain gardens will also improve the streetscape and suit the slower speed environment of the inner core.
Work is almost complete on the section of Durham Street / Cambridge Terrace between Kilmore Street and Worcester Street with work moving to the section between Worcester Street and Tuam Street. View the latest work notice [PDF, 772 KB].
The work is being carried out by Downer on behalf of Ōtākaro Ltd. For further information visit the Ōtākaro Ltd website(external link).
