Concept plans for the new central city parking building

It provides:

  • 805 parking spaces
  • disability parking
  • electric vehicle charging bays
  • 96 bicycle stands (accessed off Plymouth Lane) 
  • 953 square metres of retail space.

Other features include:

  • connections to Ballantynes and the Guthrey Centre
  • parking guidance system
  • automated security system
  • large retail area opening onto Plymouth Lane and Lichfield Street.

The Lichfield Street parking building is a key part of the Christchurch Central Parking Plan [PDF, 5.4 MB], which lays out the parking strategy for the city centre. 

A consortium led by Clearwater Construction and including DHC Consulting, DH Steel Construction and MAP Architects won the contract.
