Sorry we're in your way. We're making the intersections of Blenheim Road, Annex Road and Hansons Lane safer for everyone. Expect delays on Blenheim Road near these intersections. Thanks for your patience.

The work is part of the Nor'West Arc Major Cycle Route(external link) and will provide a safer way for people to travel from Hansons Lane, across Blenhiem Road to link into the future section of the cycleway along Annex Road.

We'll begin stormwater renewals, traffic signal upgrades, safety improvements for cyclists and pedestrians as well as kerb and channel works at the Hansons Lane and Annex Road intersections on Monday 9 January 2023.

Changes will also be made to the median islands on both Blenheim and Annex Roads to address traffic queuing issues.

We want to start construction as early as possible while traffic flows are still low.  During the December/January holidays, traffic volumes are traditionally lower which means we can get a head start on the work before school goes back and the roads get busier.

The changes as well as new traffic lights at the Blenheim Road/Annex Road intersection will improve traffic flow and safety for cyclists, as well as provide safe controlled crossing points for pedestrians.

Work was expected to be completed in early April, however this has been extended to late April.

Thanks for your patience while we make these intersections safer for everyone.

While work is underway, Blenheim Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the intersections of Hansons Lane and Annex Road.

The traffic lights at both Blenheim/Annex and Blenheim/Hansons intersections will be switched off to help keep traffic flowing on Blenheim Road.

There will be no right turns from Annex Road into Blenheim Road, or from Hansons Lane into Blenheim Road (left turns in and out of Hansons Lane and Annex Road will be available).

Detours will be in place for Hansons Lane and Annex Road traffic - please allow extra travel time or if you can, use an alternate route.

A temporary speed limit of 30km/h will be in place throughout the work area.

There may be times when we carry out tasks at night when the roads are quieter and less congested. Please follow on-site signage and take care travelling through the work area.
