The site of Christchurch’s New Central Library on the corner of Gloucester Street and Cathedral Square was chosen as part of the Central City Recovery Plan.
Attracting up to 2000 visitors a day, this landmark civic building will add life to the Central City day and night. It will also act as a link to the neighbouring Convention Centre and the Performing Arts Precinct.

Following demolition of the Camelot Hotel, the library site in Cathedral Square has been cleared ready for construction to start in 2016. The library is scheduled to open by mid 2018.
