Council is required to adopt both a Liability Management Policy and an Investment policy

Liability Management Policy

Council is required to adopt a Liability Management Policy under section 102(2)(b) of the Local Government Act 2002 (LGA). The Liability Management Policy must state (s104 LGA) our policies in respect of the management of borrowing and other liabilities, including:

  • interest rate exposure
  • liquidity
  • credit exposure
  • debt repayment.

Investment Policy

Council is required to adopt an Investment Policy under section 102(2)(c) of the LGA. The Investment Policy must state (s105 LGA) our policies in respect of investments, including:

  • the mix of investments
  • the acquisition of new investments
  • an outline of the procedures by which investments are managed and reported on to Council
  • an outline of how risks associated with investments are assessed and managed.
