Do you love a good fireworks display? Then save the date, Friday 1 November, in your calendar.

That is when the Treetech Fireworks Spectacular will take place at New Brighton Pier.

Traditionally the public fireworks display has taken place on 5 November, Guy Fawkes.

However, Christchurch City Council took the decision last year to shift the event to a Friday night so that families could enjoy the event without having to rush home afterwards because of school commitments the next day.

“We’re sticking to that formula again this year so people need to save the date, Friday 1 November in their calendar because that’s when the sky above New Brighton will light up with the most amazing display of fireworks,’’ says Council Events and Arts Manager Lucy Blackmore.

“The theme of this year’s fireworks display is Hollywood blockbusters so I think it will be an epic night,’’ Ms Blackmore says.
