This annual celebration of children is a day for families to spend fun time together at Spencer Park and discover the wild outdoors.

Painted faces add colour and fun to Children's Day adventures

Get outside! Go wild! That's one of the messages for children at this Sunday's free Children's Day celebration in Spencer Park.

Dedicated to celebrating children, this annual family fun day runs from 11am-3pm on Sunday 6 March. Children's Day lets adults do something special for the small people in their lives, and gives them a great chance to take part in events alongside one another.

Highlights include the performance stage, bouncy castles, face painting, a water slide and pony rides.

Children's Day this year is also encouraging parents to let their children muck around discovering nature. Award-winning UK film-maker David Bond, concerned at the time his children spent on digital machines, made a movie called Project Wild Thing, aimed at getting kids away from marketing and into the living world.

Children's Day is also a feature of Parks Week.
