If you want a hearty dose of Christmas cheer then make a beeline for Hagley Park on Saturday night.

Be entertained at Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park this Saturday.

It is hosting the 25th annual Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park concert featuring Stan Walker and other crowd favourites including Lavina Williams, Marley Sola, Mikey Havoc, Tom Batchelor and Ella Monnery.

They will perform alongside local artists, dance groups, a gospel choir and a 20-piece band.

“We’re so excited to be bring this wonderful celebration of Kiwi talent to the big stage for the 25th year.  It’s become a traditional way for many Kiwi families and communities to celebrate the start of the festive season,’’ says Annette Chillingworth of Coca-Cola New Zealand.

The concert will start at 7.30pm and end about 10pm with a fireworks finale.

Entry to Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park is free but people are asked to give a gold coin donation to Youthline. 

Road closures

Park Terrace will be closed between Dorset Street and Bealey Avenue from 5 to 11.30pm. There will also be a lane drop on Carlton Mill Road and Park Terrace and a turning lane closure on Bealey Avenue.

A detour will be in place for northbound traffic on Park Terrace, right onto Salisbury Street to Montreal Street, up Montreal Street to Bealey Avenue.

A detour for southbound traffic on Carlton Mill road will be in place, left onto Bealey Avenue, right onto Durham Street South, right onto Kilmore Street.

Parking

There will be no general public parking in Hagley Park. The Botanic Gardens carpark will be closed to incoming traffic from 3pm on Saturday, with the exception of mobility card holders. For parking options in the central city, visit the Council’s website

Drop off zone

A drop-off zone will be located on Park Terrace.

Mobility parking

 Mobility parking, for mobility cardholders only, will be located in Chester Street West and in the Botanic Gardens carpark.

Postponement
