There's plenty of musical entertainment on offer in the city, whether you're a fan of blues, jazz, folk or even David Bowie.

The Kenny Barron Trio

The Kenny Barron trio are performing in Christchurch this weekend.

The Cavell Leitch New Zealand Jazz and Blues Festival is on this weekend featuring local and international legends, including Irish singer Mary Coughlan.  Tickets are still available for some shows including the Festival High School Jazz Band concert in the Christ’s College Auditorium and the Yulia Sings Edith Piaf concert at The Piano. Both concerts are on Saturday afternoon.

Salute to David Bowie

Love David Bowie's music? Jon Toogood, Julia Deans, Anna Coddington, and Laughton Kora are joining with the CSO on Saturday night to present Symphonic Oddity - The Music of David Bowie.  Benjamin Northey will conduct the concert, which is being held at the Horncastle Arena. Find out more. 

Music in the library

It's the final weekend of New Zealand Music Month and you can catch The Eastern singer Adam McGrath performing Unplugged at the New Brighton Library on Saturday from 2pm until 3pm and at South Christchurch Library on Sunday from 2pm until 3pm.  Both shows are free. 

Bike night

If you're a fan of getting on your bike, you might enjoy watching them on screen at The Big Bike Film Night, featuring the best cycling-related short films from around the world.  At the Charles Luney Auditorium, St Margaret's College on Friday from 7.30pm until 10pm. 

Botanic Gardens open day

Wind down with a walk through the peaceful Christchurch Botanic Gardens on Sunday when the Botanic Gardens Australia and New Zealand Open Day is being held. To mark the occasion, the back-of-house nursery near the Visitor Centre will be open to the public.
