Want to stock up on some reading material for the cooler months?

Books for sale.

Book enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice at the Library Big Bargain Book Sale.

You will find thousands of great books to choose from at the annual  Christchurch City Libraries Big Bargain Book Sale which begins on Friday.

The libraries' book sale is the opportunity for books and other items no longer in demand, but still in good condition, to find new homes, ensuring they continue to be of value to others.

“There’s some great books on offer at very affordable prices so it’s a great chance for people to stock up their book shelves. Last year’s sale attracted more than 6000 book enthusiasts and we’re hoping to surpass that number this year,’’ says Christchurch City Council Head of Libraries and Information Carolyn Robertson.

This year more than 50,000 books and items will be available for sale. Most adult books will be priced at $3 while young adult and children's books will be priced $1. Audio-visual items such as DVDs, CDs and talking books will be on sale for $3 while magazines will be offered at 10 for $1.

The Library Big Bargain Book Sale is on at the Pioneer Recreation and Sport Centre from 9am to 7pm on Friday, March 24 and from 9am to 4pm on Saturday, March 25.

People who are registered as Friends of the Library can get a jump on other bargain hunters on Thursday, March 23 between 4.30 and 7pm.
