While the kids of Christchurch will be pounding the pavements this evening in search of treats, some of our canine friends have got into the Halloween spirit too.

Meet Rocket, a lovable little six year old griffon bichon cross, rescued from the Christchurch City Council Animal Shelter earlier this year.

Before he was rehomed, Rocket was a real Houdini who continually kept Animal Shelter staff on his feet. Now happily homed with a family in Spreydon, this little guy and his family are embracing his new happiness with some Halloween dress ups.

Owner Kathy Ousey said Rocket was a special little dog worth having a little bit of fun with on Halloween.

"We chose a Super Dog costume for Rocket as he's overcome so many hardships in his life - he's absolutely our super little guy.  And because he literally leaps into the arms of anyone he meets for snuggles."
