About Anne

A society grows strong when old men and women plant trees they will never sit under

My decision to get involved in local body politics was motivated by a belief in the importance of leaving a positive legacy. I want my children and grandchildren to live in a community that is socially and environmentally healthy, in which residents feel a sense of connection and belonging.

I am committed to formulating, facilitating and communicating a vision for a strong community that embraces diversity in age, gender and ethnicity that values experience, diverse views and skills. As Councillor, I endeavour to engage, listen, and confidently represent the wishes and needs of the residents of Halswell and the city.

As this is my first foray into local body politics, I have a lot to learn. However, I am fortunate to be a part of the positive and supportive team that are the Council Staff and my fellow Councillors.

The committee structure and terms of reference have just been finalised and I will be on:

  1. The Infrastructure, Transport and Environment Committee, focussing on the governance of road and transport, three waters, waste management and natural hazards protection
  2. Social and Community Development, on matters relating to social and community well-being
  3. Finance and Performance focussing on the financial and non-financial performance of the council and its subsidiaries and
  4. Regulatory performance and Compliance, focussing on these functions within Council.

As well as these I will be a member of the International and Multicultural Strategy sub-committee, chairing the Safer Christchurch Committee, on the Museum Trust Board, and representing the Council on the Selwyn –Waihora Zone Committee.

In my spare time(!). I love spending time with my family (especially my grandchildren) and friends; being active (I've run a few half-marathons) reading, movie watching; and travelling.

I look forward to meeting you. Please feel free to contact me.
