About Andrew

Andrew is in his third term as Christchurch City Councillor for the Banks Peninsula ward, and has been Deputy Mayor of Christchurch since October 2016. Andrew is committed to community development, the environment, arts and culture, economic development and social equity.

Andrew has established and operated small and medium-sized businesses, and has held a number of governance roles, in both commercial and community organisations.

He has worked in senior business development roles in New Zealand and in developing and emerging markets overseas. Andrew is a former chair of the Lyttelton Harbour Business Association and prior to being elected to Council was an elected member of the local Community Board. Andrew has also chaired a number of the Council's standing committees and working groups and is currently chair of Council’s Finance and Performance Committee.

Andrew currently holds a number of Board positions including Christchurch City Holdings Ltd, Christchurch NZ, the Christchurch Foundation, the Okains Bay Maori and Colonial Museum, the Banks Peninsula War Memorial Society, the Lyttelton RSA, the Lyttelton Information Centre Trust, and the Rod Donald Banks Peninsula Trust.

Andrew is a long-time resident of Lyttelton, where he lives with his partner and two small dogs. He enjoys travel, food, and outdoor activities such as tramping and camping. He is a keen runner and gym-goer. Health and fitness is a part of his "work hard, play hard" ethic.
