Sarah BRUNTON

Independent

My principal place of residence is in the Hornby Ward of the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.

Hornby deserves sensible, strong, independent and community focused leadership.
You voted for me last time, and I’m asking for your support again.
You’ve told me what matters most: getting the basics right, spending rates wisely, and making sure local voices are heard.
Families here work hard and expect practical decisions from Council, such as fixing roads, maintaining parks and supporting the services people rely on every day.
I’ve worked alongside local groups like the Hornby Community Centre Trust Board, which shows the power of community led support. With the right backing, these groups help keep Hornby thriving.
Growth is coming fast, but it needs to be managed in a way that protects what makes our community special - our connections, our values and our way of life.
This election, your vote can help keep the focus on what really matters.
Let’s keep Hornby moving forward together.

Henk BUUNK

Independent

My principal place of residence is in the Hornby Ward of the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.

I'm standing because I want Hornby to be an even better place to live.
Let’s see clear vision in planning including a sensible traffic strategy with through traffic down main corridors not the heart of Hornby. New building carefully planned to enhance the local community and cycleways to reflect the needs of our community.
As for climate change, we need to plant more of the right trees in the right places and place less reliance on fossil fuels.
We need a community-minded police force that works proactively, ensuring that we can all live in a safer neighbourhood.
Let’s grow our community by supporting our local clubs, sports, recreation, and spaces where people can meet, socialize, and learn new skills.
Some of our social housing urgently needs upgrades - Let’s not ignore that. We are making good progress together - Let’s keep it going! Together We Can Make A Difference!

For a Greater Hornby

My principal place of residence is in the Hornby Ward of the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.

I live, work, and raise my young family in Hornby with my partner and our son. Like many locals, we want a safe, well-serviced community with proper investment in the basics.
I’ve worked with residents and Council to get results: new footpaths, upgraded parks, better public transport and advocated for Amyes Road renewal.
I’ve reported and resolved over 600 local issues, from potholes and broken signs to faulty streetlights and graffiti. It made the media when Council tried to limit how many potholes I could report. I spoke out because Hornby residents deserve a voice.
My priorities include renewing Amyes Road, building missing footpaths, mitigating flooding, better parks and playgrounds and smarter spending.
I’m not affiliated with any political party. I’m here to represent Hornby - and I get stuff done. I’m always available to hear your concerns. Reach me anytime:

Levaun MATETAKA

The People's Choice - Labour

My principal place of residence is in the Hornby Ward of the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.

I’m Levaun Matetaka, a mother of three and nana of seven who has called Hornby home since 2018. I believe strongly in community service. I’m a committee member with Greater Hornby Residents Association, kaimahi and team leader for Te Korowai ō Grannies, and a new patroller with Hornby Community Patrol. I will bring drive and commitment to represent Hornby effectively.
My professional background has helped me develop leadership, collaboration, compliance and analytical skills essential for effective governance. Residents encouraged me to run because they know I genuinely care about community concerns. I am asking for your vote with The People’s Choice because I’m passionate about tackling critical community challenges including public safety concerns, traffic, and cost of living pressures.
I love this community for its authenticity, resilience and openness, and I will advocate strongly for your voice, working tirelessly to address issues affecting our daily lives.
Your voice, your advocate.

Janice MUNAR

The People's Choice - Labour

My principal place of residence is in the Hornby Ward of the Waipuna Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.

I have proudly called Christchurch home for 10 years and have become deeply connected to the Hornby community. Our ward has great potential for growth and positive change.
As the Hornby ward continues to grow, it’s essential that everyone feels heard, valued and represented. I will do this by embracing our diversity and strong local connections to build a strong, vibrant and resilient community that truly reflects the people of Hornby.
I bring energy, community engagement and project management experience. These skills deliver practical, people-focused solutions that serve our community’s needs.
We can thrive through safer roads and fantastic green spaces, better public transport, and upgraded infrastructure.
I want to give back to my adoptive country and would be honoured to earn your vote to represent Hornby on the Community Board with The People’s Choice.
