Jackie SIMONS

Jackie SIMONSThe People's Choice - Labour

My principal place of residence is in the Linwood Ward of the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board area.

I have lived in the Woolston/Linwood area most of my life. Working in healthcare, I increasingly see a community divided and dysfunctional because of rising poverty and inequality. It doesn't need to be like this, and we can fix it. Ultimately, we deserve a better future for ourselves and our families.
If elected I would like to encourage resources that inspire people to become more involved and gain a better sense of self- worth and regard for their surroundings. To do this, I believe you need to be able to empathise, not sympathise, and have walked the walk, not read the book.
I have faced many of the challenges and barriers that people are facing today, and I believe I have the abilities to help break down these barriers and improve the day to day lives of our citizens.
