Halswell Ward - Councillor (1 required)

Anne GALLOWAY

Anne GALLOWAYThe People's Choice

My principal place of residence is in the Halswell Ward area.

Kia Ora, I'm Anne Galloway.
As your current councillor I believe we need an engaged community where everyone in the community has equal opportunities and access. Before I became a councillor I was a teacher and I'm committed to putting families and children at the heart of my decision making.
I will continue to advocate for facilities such as pools, where kids can learn to swim, and libraries where residents from nine to 90 can access, books, magazines and entertainment.
I am also committed to a safe, crime free, Halswell and actively engage with the Police and traffic planners to keep our residents safe. Working in partnership with Environment Canterbury I'll continue to push for safe clean drinking water and clean air.
Halswell is a great place to live and it would be a privilege to continue serving the community and making sure families can thrive.

Paul LONSDALE

Is Christchurch shaping up as the city you want it to be?
I am running for City Council because I believe we can do better - much better.
We need better control over our water and waterways, better control over our finances to ease the burden of rate increases and better control over our growth so Halswell remains a great place to live now and into the future.
As an independent candidate who has a proven ability for getting things done, I will represent our community's views and not be swayed by Wellington politics. We need to get back to local representation.
With many years of successful governance and management experience I have the knowledge and skills to make our rates money go further.
With your support, I will work hard to ensure our community's voice is heard at the Council table.
We can do better - much better.

Adele GERADTS

Adele GERADTSFor Communities You'll Love to Live In

My principal place of residence is in the Halswell Ward of the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.

For over 20 years, I have helped found and run Armageddon expo New Zealand's largest pulp culture conventions. That journey has honed my decision making and negotiating skills and given me a track record in getting things done. In that time, I have raised 4 children, completed a BA in Education, actively volunteered at Plunket for 17 years and spent 6 years on the Linwood College Board of Trustees. I would now like to turn my experience and motivation toward serving the Community Board as your representative. I value experience and diverse views and I can engage, listen, and confidently represent the wishes and needs of the whole community. I support protecting our waterways and encouraging active urban transport. I have a sound understanding of running a business and balancing the books, with excellent communication and governance skills. I believe in sustainable, connected communities, accountability and transparency in governance.

Ross MCFARLANE

Ross MCFARLANEOur Community My Priority

My principal place of residence is in the Halswell Ward of the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.

Growth across all areas of our ward has placed huge demands on amenities. As your proactive full time community board representative, in what is now the largest Community Board in New Zealand, I seek your ongoing support and vote. While representing you, I will ensure wise spending to protect and improve our neighbourhood facilities and resources. As an Independent candidate, without sponsorship or political obligations to cause conflict, I can freely vote with you on the issue at hand, allowing community concerns to be addressed. We deserve affordable and equitable rates across residential, rural and business sectors, and open, improved engagement in local body decision making. Utilising knowledge from years of sporting involvement and active participation in local residents' groups I have the skills to represent our changing community needs so our ward continues to prosper and grow together.

Andrei MOORE

Andrei MOOREThe People's Choice

My principal place of residence is in the Halswell Ward of the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.

At two weeks of age, I was lucky enough to be adopted from Romania by a Halswell family. I'm very proud to call Halswell my home, 28 years later.
More importantly though, I'll tell you what I'll do if elected.
You will hear from me and I will listen. I will work hard to represent you - the ratepayer and resident. Many people don't know their local representatives or what they do. You deserve to know how your rates are spent and what is being delivered for Halswell, Westmorland and Wigram.
The issues I'm hearing the most concern about are water, crime, burglaries, better transport and infrastructure planning. I am committed to work on these issues and others to better support our growing population.
Ultimately I want to help deliver better outcomes for Halswell that I can be proud of because Halswell has absolutely helped deliver better outcomes for me.

Narinder SINGH WARRAICH

Narinder SINGH WARRAICHThe People's Choice - Labour

My principal place of residence is in the Halswell Ward of the Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton Community Board area.

I came to New Zealand in 2009. It has become home for me, my wife and our two-year-old son.
As an entrepreneur, I support economic growth but not at the cost of our natural environment. I believe that New Zealand's future progress depends on our ability to adapt technologically. A central element to this is educating our young people in technical skills.
As a community board member, I will act with transparency and work for the well-being of our communities. I will focus on protecting our precious water and stopping water bottling. I believe in taking real action on climate change, and will work to engage the public in conservation programmes.
I will work to address road safety and the traffic congestion in Halswell. I will also support the stabilisation of increasing property rates.
Together we can make a difference. Please support and vote for me, Narinder Singh Warraich.
