Central Ward - Councillor (1 required)

Clive ANTONY

My principal place of residence is in the Central Ward area. I am also standing for the Central Ward of the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board.

I am a Central City home owner, ratepayer and business owner. I founded and own the successful social media agency, Mates Social Media. We deliver for some of the city's largest organisations.
For me, business is about contributing to our community. I'm passionate and committed to employing graduates from Christchurch's excellent tertiary institutions and to growing a vibrant Central City. However, this election is about you. Our ward is going through many changes and it's important to have a councillor who understands that being your representative means delivering for you as a ratepayer. We must balance growth for business and residents alike. I have the energy, vision, community involvement and a successful financial track record to deliver for Central Christchurch. I can be contacted at anytime so please get in touch so I can understand your concerns and aspirations.

It's been a privilege to serve central Christchurch on the Community Board. I've campaigned on traffic safety and city-planning - and got results. I'm asking for your support to take the skills I've gained to Council.
I'm 27 years old. After moving to Christchurch from Invercargill as a child, I grew up, went to school and completed my degree here in Central. And recently I bought my first house here. I'm a proud Labour Party member so I want to make sure all residents of Christchurch get a fair crack at a good life.
My Labour colleagues and I are about getting the basics right. We want our roads and footpaths fixed, a regeneration plan for Linwood, and we want changes made to protect our inner suburbs from poorly planned developments. Along with our ECan team we want to see water bottling under control. Support us to get it done.

Deon SWIGGS

My principal place of residence is in the Central Ward area.

It's been a privilege to represent you as the Central Ward Councillor for the last three years, working alongside diverse communities, residents associations and business groups.
I am proud to have helped reduce homelessness in our city, and also to have tackled big issues by helping to secure significant funding for infrastructure improvements, maintenance and projects in the ward.
It's been a challenging journey, but our city is now on the cusp of achieving many goals.
I know I can take the city and ward even further forward over the next three years. Key issues include underground pipes (water infrastructure), road quality, transport, environmental sustainability and getting people back to the city - as workers, residents and visitors.
As your Councillor I will continue to be visible, accountable and accessible. I offer experience, sound economic judgement and a commitment to getting things done.

Irinka BRITNELL

Irinka BRITNELLMy principal place of residence is in the Central Ward of the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board area.

I am born in Christchurch, daughter of hardworking refugees from Macedonia. I work with my husband in our business for 30 plus years. I support various community groups advocating for Heritage; Peace City, Human Rights, Environment, Cultural Diversity. Better recycling/rubbish management. No chlorine in water. To reduce rates CCC should be in water export business, not giving it away. Keep strategic assets. Village concept important for all city to have walking access to shops. Ageing population needs more buses, closer vehicle parking to amenities. Re open access at Fitzgerald Ave/Worcester St for Linwood Village survival. Need re think on Accessible City - currently difficult to navigate, park and spend. Businesses are suffering. Stop building poky apartments deviating from rules, compromising future architecture/design/liveability of our city. Where is City In A Garden? Keep cash options for paying bills. Caution on 5G. Voting Yes in Cannabis Referendum - will help economic recovery.

My principal place of residence is in the Central Ward of the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board area. I am also standing for the Canterbury District Health Board.

Getting things done and making sure you get personal attention; I work hard to resolve issues and am accountable only to you.
My voting record shows I stand up for local residents on many issues including: safety, heritage, saving libraries, improving roads and footpaths, protecting clean water, protecting and enhancing rivers and parks, waste reduction, cycleways, combating graffiti-vandalism and good transport systems.
I have worked hard to keep the Linwood pool on track and within budget and proposed two big projects for our area - Greening the East and a plan to enhance and clean up the lower Heathcote river.
I make decisions in the best interests of the community after examining the facts, listening to people and especially looking at the long-term impacts.
I'm active in the community and use a common-sense approach.
Love hearing from you and always available to listen. Phone me 3792820 or 0210580392 Email: bucksally1@gmail.com

My primary focus is on the safety of people in and out of their homes in daily life. In addition, address the impacts of the city development plan on the people and local businesses. I am committed to advocating for the interest of my community by promoting open communication between the council and the people.
I bring to this role, an open heart that listens to others, and an open mind that accepts the opinions of others, to find ways to get the job done.

Wayne HAWKER

Wayne HAWKERIndependent

My principal place of residence is in the Central Ward of the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board area.

Have lived within the Central Ward for almost 40yrs and have been a strong advocate for my local community on many issues, these include shutting down an illegally operating brothel and more recently leading our community in stopping another liquor store opening in our community. These are issues that have a direct negative affect on any community and something I will continue to fight against. I am community driven and focused and not afraid to roll the sleeves up and get stuck in. I can at times be quite outspoken on issues but believe in saying things if they need saying. When elected as your representative on the community board I will be ready to be there listening to our communities. The heart of our city is our communities, healthy communities lead to a healthy city that is well on it's way to being a great city again.

Michelle LOMAX

My principal place of residence is in the Central Ward of the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board area.

I trained as a lawyer, and have six children. Mainly I've been a full-time mum, but now work at Community Law on disability issues. I love living and working in the Central ward, with all it has to offer, including Hagley College where my son has the privilege of attending.
Wellbeing starts with our community. Strong, sustainable communities mean everyone feels they belong, and we're all better off.
I've worked hard in community roles ranging from elected district health board member, to chair of a high school board of trustees, and successfully campaigning to keep a local maternity unit open. I've also been an advocate for mental health and children's issues.
My work experience includes as a lawyer, policy advisor and electorate officer.
A vote for me is a vote for community, experience, inclusiveness, and good old-fashioned hard work!

I am business development manager for a Christchurch owned IT company.
I have lived in Christchurch all my life and in central city for over a decade. We are a family of four, with two teenagers. I care about the quality of life in central Christchurch and have worked actively over the years to improve our area.
