Paul LONSDALEPaul LONSDALE

Independent

My principal place of residence is not in the Heathcote Ward area.
I have served three years as Councillor for the Hagley Ferrymead ward, which is arguably one of the most affected in the city. We have been busy with a lot of planning and decision-making around building resilience for the future and working closely with the affected communities on how we achieve that.
Throughout this term I have always been accessible even during times of heavy workload. This has enabled me to develop an intimate knowledge and understanding of all the local issues. I came into council knowing that this term would not be easy but I wanted to be a part of working with the community to develop a new future for our city. We have come a long way from when we took office three years ago. I believe consistency will be essential in the coming term if we are to continue on the solid path we have created.

Strong Communities for a Stronger Christchurch

My principal place of residence is in the Heathcote Ward area.
As Chair of the Hagley-Ferrymead Community Board for the last three years I've been active, accessible and approachable in the many communities we've represented. I've worked to enable greater community engagement in council processes and in the rebuild of our local facilities.
Amongst other projects I also chaired the Victoria Square Community Reference Group, as we oversaw CERA's consultation process, ensuring the city's desire for a restored Square was upheld. Residents need to have a greater say in the rest of the central city.
Christchurch needs strong communities to become a stronger, more resilient city. We need local facilities and businesses, safe and sustainable transport options and a healthy natural environment.
Our city needs councillors who live in and are connected to their wards, are experienced leaders, good listeners and believe in public service. I am one of those people and need your vote to do this work.

Darrell LATHAMDarrell LATHAM

Independent

My principal place of residence is in the Heathcote Ward of the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board area.
I have the experience and knowledge to effectively represent residents.
As a Sumner Community Residents Association member I have written submissions relating to the coastal pathway, reserves, fencing, footpaths and, other geotechnical works. Sumner Redcliffs Associations collaborated on many submissions.
I prepared the 2016 Residents Association's annual plan and briefed the Mayor and City Councillors regarding our concerns. As a committee member of Christchurch Coastal Residents United we achieved a successful review of the CCC Coastal Hazards Policy.
I have written Press articles supporting the retention of Redcliffs School and articles challenging CCC planning and lack of consultation. I will advocate for the community.
My background is as a primary and special education teacher, Education Centre Director and, University Senior Lecturer.
Genuine partnerships create strong, effective and resilient communities. Therefore, I support more CCC decision-making being devolved to the local community board level.
I will represent Heathcote residents with enthusiasm.

For Communities You’ll Love To Live In

My principal place of residence is in the Heathcote Ward of the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board area.
I have a doctorate in science and am a business development professional with a passion for the environment, healthy cities, and effective democracy. As chair of the Coastal Pathway project for three years I led the creation of a safe route along the estuary for people of all abilities to get fit, enjoy nature and travel safely. I will bring this experience in working collaboratively and effectively with Community Board, Councillors and council staff to the table as an elected community board member.
On the community board I will work to ensure that the community board is effective at turning needs, hopes and ideas from our community into actions that lead to results. I will seek to help Heathcote have a cleaner, healthier, urban environment, especially the waterways and estuary. I will support safe active urban transport, easing congestion on our roads, and support appropriate business development opportunities.

My principal place of residence is in the Heathcote Ward of the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board area.
I am a passionate community person, active in promoting connections in the community and to giving a voice to community aspirations.
Since moving to Christchurch I have become secretary of Sustainable Otautahi Christchurch and treasurer of The Viva Project with its focus on building sustainable urban villages. My last community was the village of Waipu in Northland where I set up a community website. As Treasurer of the business and promotions group I set up a new winter festival focusing on its unique Scottish Heritage. I chaired the local resident and ratepayers group. With both, we developed a strong working relationship with local council.
I have a background in tourism - I built and ran a lodge in Northland, and was a member of the Northland Tourism Development Group, and a trustee of the Whangarei Tourism Trust.
I look forward to bringing my passion and skills to the Community Board.

I am a single parent of two and have lived in Christchurch since 1995.
I work as a kindergarten Teacher Aide and for IHC as a support worker with special-needs children and adults. I have a long record of involvement with the Beckenham Neighbourhood Association and standing for Heathcote Community Board member is a natural extension of this community work.
I advocate an improvement in road safety for all pedestrians: children, the elderly, the disabled, and cyclists. I support and work towards zero tolerance of domestic violence.
As a Spreydon-Heathcote resident I appreciate the value of a Community Board that listens. I will ensure that the new Board is equally open and responsive to its electorate. I want to represent people's concerns and be there for the community. I am proud to be part of The People's Choice, with its record of service to the people of Christchurch.

My principal place of residence is in the Heathcote Ward of the Linwood-Central-Heathcote Community Board area.
Having lived all my 55 years in the Heathcote Ward, I feel that the time is right for me to seek to be your representative on the community board. I believe I have the passion and experience to make a valuable contribution to the well-being and benefit of our community. I am currently working with my partner Alison selling real estate, having spent several years in the building trade which has given me that practical experience which I feel will assist me when it comes to making decisions around the committee table. I have also been Chairperson of the Sumner Surf Lifesaving Club for the past 15 years which has been very rewarding and especially now with its new facilities.
