I was born and raised in Dunedin and moved to Christchurch to attend teacher's college and university. Since that time I have fallen in love with this city and now call it home. On my return here, from working in Asia and the USA, I have involved myself in many local organisations and issues.
As your elected representative I will be your eyes, ears, heart and voice around the table.
Christchurch has the opportunity to be; financially strong, environmentally prepared, accessible, affordable and a desirable city to live in. As an independent voice at the table, I will make sure that all decisions keep these requirements in balance.
I have a strong background in business, education, governance and sport; this enables me to be well informed across the wide range of decisions your elected representative will need to make.
Vote Dora Roimata Langsbury, to be your voice at the table.

Independent - Let’s Get It Done

My principal place of residence is not in the Central Ward area.
If you are one of the 200,000 people a month who get information from Rebuild Christchurch, then you know who I am. I started www.rebuildchristchurch.co.nz in September 2010 because I know how important it is for people to know what's going on. Alongside this I set up a charitable Foundation that raised money so we could deliver assistance to families in need.
I was a founding trustee of the Canterbury Insurance Assistance Service, to help people with EQC and insurance disputes. I also hosted a TV documentary about the residential red zone's future. And at the same time I have been studying for an MBA, and will be graduating in November.
My track record shows that I get things done.
As your city councillor, I will bring all the hopes, dreams and aspirations of a young person to the table and I will get things done.

I am a small business owner and I'm passionate about our community.
Every thought, choice and decision we make, big or small, affects our future - some can even be life altering. We can't change yesterday, but we can shape tomorrow.
The basic foundations for our city are in place and we have the chance to revive the best of the past and create a strong united vision for our future.
With hard work, clear communication and accountability we can achieve positive results together. If we listen, hear all voices and work together constructively we can move beyond differences to achieve great outcomes.
I'll keep our strategic assets and believe it is important for us to assure we have safe, healthy and accessible housing. Let's grow a Garden City where we can stand tall, and be proud.
My business motto has always been solutions, not promises, that's what I'm offering you.

Our Communities represent the heart of our city, this heart has been beating for many years from our past, our present and into the future as we continue to rebuild our city. As your community board representative I will continue working to best represent the views and needs of our community. My past record of community work stands out. Member of Phillipstown School board that took the fight to Education Ministry to keep the school open, have successfully campaigned to stop unwanted liquor stores opening in our community. Worked with council officials and shut down an illegally operating brothel in the community. Proudly campaigned to keep our current flag but my work is still not complete. I have a lot to offer our community, I have the time, passion and energy to roll up my sleeves, get down and work hard for our community, I just need your vote.

I'm asking for your support to be your representative on our community board. I grew up in the Central ward and went to school in the CBD. I'm proud to live and work here, and to call Christchurch home. I believe it's important for young people to get involved and contribute to our city.
I'm passionate about ensuring people have a say in the decisions that affect their lives, and I want to be a strong advocate for people in Central Christchurch.
With a degree in broadcasting communication, I have skills and experience to work with communities to find can do solutions to the challenges and opportunities we face: every-one should live in a warm dry home, it makes sense to keep our strategic assets, and we have to respect people and protect our environment. We should all enjoy high quality community facilities that are accessible to everyone.

As a wheelchair user I appreciate barriers faced by people with mobility challenges whether through physical impairment or age instability. Our city, our community, has an obligation to assure safe, accessible, healthy, affordable housing that continues to meet our needs as we age.
Now is the time to design for a truly internationally recognised accessible city, from home to places of business, employment, leisure and care; through paving and public transport; attracting commercial benefits from disabled sporting, business and tourism.
I support open, inclusive decision making. I am a strong believer in environmental issues and sustainability, and want clean water, free from nutrient loading and commercialisation. I am treasurer on the board of a community housing organisation and volunteer for another.
I challenge boundaries: I was the first adaptive rower to be selected in the NZ rowing squad in 2009, and I'm a keen off-road hand-cycler.

Christchurch is at a crossroads. This is our chance to make it better. As a long-term resident of the central city and a strong believer in the importance of community, I will advocate for those who live and work in it. I believe in pragmatic politics and the power of democracy. I am a young, progressive voice, I will speak up for those I represent. I believe green spaces can be used in a productive way to enhance our developing urban environment. Let us together take the opportunity to preserve the unique character of our city, but make it a living vibrant one, that properly reflects those that call it home.
