We are improving pedestrian safety in Knights Stream to support students’ journey to school.

At the Caulfield Avenue, Richmond Avenue and Whincops Road intersection, we will install raised speed platforms on each of the four approaches to slow vehicles as they enter the roundabout.

On Whincops Road, near Ishwar Ganda Boulevard we are also installing a speed cushion to further slow vehicle speeds.

School speed zone

As part of the Interim Speed Management Plan, a school speed limit change is also open for feedback. You can share your feedback on our Have Your Say Page(external link)

Improving safety on local roads in Christchurch is a priority for Council and is also a national priority under the Road to Zero, New Zealand’s road safety strategy(external link) for 2020-2030.
