What are we proposing?
To create a pleasant green space that visually protects the view of the surrounding streets with the planting of hedges and plants. New deciduous trees to the north and east will still allow sunlight during the winter months. The new seating area will create a welcoming place to sit and look across the reserve. Rocks and boulders will provide homage to the old Jackson Creek which once flowed through the area. A new information panel will share the history of the reserve and the 100 year old storm water system which is still present and in use under the site.

Our Tree Selection
Because we are proposing to plant trees in the reserve on the north side, the trees need to be deciduous to allow for sunlight into the reserve over the winter months. Because of the close proximity of Brougham Street, the trees need to be able to withstand fumes from the cars which plane trees are very good at. There are two existing plane trees in the reserve that are surviving well under the harsh conditions, and the additional plane trees will give the feeling of continuity in this small reserve.
