The planning and consents protocol for stormwater management has been developed by the Christchurch City Council and Environment Canterbury (ECan) to help address issues relating to the management of stormwater facilities and waterways.
The protocol includes principles and agreed practices for land use and stormwater management planning that will direct the way the two councils work together.

A one-year trial to help stop zinc runoff getting into waterways is underway as part of Christchurch City Council’s commitment to improve urban stormwater quality.
