Urumau Reserve

Urumau Reserve is located on the prominent lava flow ridge that borders Lyttelton township to the east.

Status: New track, open but only partially formed, no marking and no sign at Crater Rim junction.

Start: Crater Rim Track junction.

Finish: Lyttelton township; northern end of Foster Tce.

Time: 1 hour one way.

Dogs: Permitted on leash.

Toilets: No.

Description:

Urumau Reserve (26 ha) is located on the prominent lava flow ridge that borders Lyttelton to the east. The track is open but unmarked, and there is no signpost at the junction with Crater Rim walkway as yet. Track improvements are planned for the near future; keep checking this page for updates.

The track is challenging, with some rocky sections that require some scrambling.

Descend steeply from Crater Rim to Lyttelton township, coming out at the northern end of Foster Tce.
