Severe weather warning for Christchurch and Canterbury in place. 

As a precautionary measure, a number of Council parks will be closed on Thursday 23 October 2025. These include: 

  • Christchurch Botanic Gardens, including the Armagh Street and Riccarton Avenue car parks
  • Mona Vale
  • The Groynes
  • Bottle Lake Forest
  • Spencer Park
  • The Horseshoe Lake Dog Park
  • Urumau Reserve
  • Pony Point
  • Victoria Park, including Tawharanui Trail, Latter's Spur Track and The Harry Ell Walkway
  • Diamond Harbour's Coastal Cliffs Track 

Always check the walking track status page before heading out.

Please follow any signage indicating closures, rockfall danger, detours or stop/go.
