Session structure

There will be a fitness test in the first and last week of the course.

The sessions in between will be structured as follows:

  • Warm up - 5 minutes
  • Team activities - 15 minutes
  • Drills (different focus) - 20 minutes
  • Final quick team activity - 5 minutes
  • Stretch - 5 minutes

All levels of fitness are accommodated with exercises taught with multiple options to suit all abilities.

What to bring

Whatever exercise clothes you feel comfortable in. Bring a warm layer to wear at the start that you can take off when you warm up. Please also wear comfortable exercise shoes.

We recommend you bring a drink bottle and towel.

Injuries and attendance

The aim of these sessions is to have fun, burn calories and develop strength. We are not drill sergeants and we are here to ensure you meet your goals while having fun. Feel free to arrive a few minutes early before the first session and introduce yourself to the instructor.

We encourage everyone to maximise the six week programme with full participation. You must commit to the full six weeks, as there will be no refunds for any sessions missed unless a doctor's note is provided for injury or sickness.

Please let our instructor know if you have an injury that needs to be worked around. They will be able to assess whether or not the injury will impede your workout. In most cases minor injuries can be worked around and you will still be able to participate in the sessions.

If you are injured pre-registration and wish to discuss to see if you will get the most out of the Bootcamp, please contact our Group Fitness Coordinator via the Customer Services desk.

The difference between Bootcamp and Circuit/Xtreme

Within our Group Fitness timetable, we run classes such as Circuit and Xtreme. These classes are of similar level from week to week and are on a drop-in basis.

Bootcamp, is a planned, six week, two sessions per week programme, with a fitness test being carried out in the first and last weeks so we can measure progress.

Each week will have a different focus and energy levels will increase throughout the programme. Participation levels are capped to ensure good attention to each individual and many of the drills and exercises are team focused to heighten enjoyment levels, output, and commitment.
