Stunning views over the Canterbury Plains and down through the Bowenvale Valley. Along with the Bowenhill Downhill, this is the oldest MTB track on the Port Hills.
Grade: 3, intermediate. Steep slopes, rougher sections, some narrow tracks, avoidable obstacles.
Start/finish: Either Thomsons car park off Summit Road or from the top of Huntsbury Track off Summit Road.
Access: Turn left at the Sign of the Kiwi onto Summit Road. Drive/bike approximately 1 km east along Summit Road to Thomsons car park. This car park is where most downhill runs start in Victoria Park.
Signs: Posted at each end.
Description: From the car park, turn right onto a smooth gravel track in the pine forest. Continue along the two-way track weaving into tussock country just below Summit Road.
From the Huntsbury Track end the track descends quicker and is faster to ride.
Please be aware that sheep often graze in this area.
