What to expect

Help Christchurch City Council Rangers create a more diverse wetland and healthy habitat by under-planting between existing native trees.

What to bring

  • Weather appropriate clothing - layers, rain jacket, hat
  • Gumboots
  • Gardening gloves
  • Water bottle and a snack

You will receive more information in the week leading up to the event. Planting events may be cancelled if weather is too poor. 

Community planting days

Get involved in a community planting day at Halswell Quarry in 2020 and help create a more diverse wetland environment and healthy habitat for wildlife.

Event dates

  • Saturday 20 June, 10am to 12pm (celebrate National Volunteer Week with Christchurch City Council rangers)
  • Saturday 4 July, 10am to 12pm
  • Saturday 25 July, 10am to 12pm (in association with Trees for Canterbury(external link))

Meet at the Visitor Centre,  a single-storey stone cottage on the main drive off Kennedy's Bush Road. Directions to the planting site will be displayed.
