From the main Victoria Park car park. Follow the path up to the Visitor Centre, zig zag down through the native plantings to cross Victoria Park Road.
The track will lead you below the road through a wooded area with boardwalks and two wooden viewing platforms. The second viewing platform is shaded by a large red beech tree - Tawhairanui is its Māori name.
The trail emerges at a car park near the dog exercise area on Victoria Park Road. Follow the road several hundred metres up to the main car park to complete the circuit.
