Quarry Trail/Fantail Loop

This smaller circuit passes through a disused quarry in the Reserve. It's a great short walk on its own or do it as an extension to the Orongomai Trail if you have time.

Description

Start by taking the Orongomai Trail as above but some way down the descent, turn off to take the Quarry Trail. Almost immediately you will pass under the old cut faces of a small quarry site.

Some of the rocks underfoot can be slippery as this is a damp spot. Sidle and then start a gradual climb to meet the Oronogomai Trail.

Continue back to the Sign of the Bellbird.

Totara Trail Totara Trail is a lovely connecting track within the Fantail and Orongomai Loop track that takes you through regenerating native bush.
