Description

The Eastenders Track was named after the local volunteer group that constructed it.

You can access the track from either the main sports ground car park at Barnett Park or at the end of Bay View Road. From Barnett Park, walk across the sports field towards the head of the valley.

A small bridge crosses a creek and the track starts to climb up the eastern flank. Here you leave the old track and follow the new one which branches off uphill.

It follows a number of twists and turns to link up with a 4WD track and finishes at the stand of large pine trees on Summit Road.

Get ready for this track using Plan My Walk(external link) by the NZ Mountain Safety Council. You can find track alerts, weather forecasts, trip reviews and a packing list, so you are set for your adventure.
