Ngā Puna Wai has a small lake at its heart surrounded by native wetland plants. This park is adjacent to the Canterbury Agricultural Park and will be the site of a new sports hub to replace facilities lost at QEII Park and around the city.
Start: The carpark off Augustine Drive.
Finish: Corner of Sparks Road and Curletts Road.
Distance: 2 km (one way).
Time: 30-40 minutes.
Toilets: Located next to the carpark off Augustine Drive.
Access: Off-road strollers only in dry conditions.
Dogs: Allowed under effective control.
From the car park off Augustine Drive turn right and follow the path that leads into the small native forest.
There are several offshoots that take you closer to the creek that runs along side and a second entrance off Warren Crescent. You can use these offshoots to turn the track into a loop.
The second half of the walk takes you through open fields and onto a shared cycle path along Curletts Road.
