The northern section of the Papanui Parallel cycleway has now reopened. We'll finish our water main upgrades on Grassmere Street by late August 2025.
This section of the Papanui Parallel Puari ki Papanui - Papanui Parallel cycleway has now reopened. Ngā mihi, thanks for your patience.
We're currently completing essential water main upgrades on Grassmere Street and alongside a section of the Papanui Parallel cycleway, between Grants Road and Rutland Street.
This work is allowing us to replace pipes at the end of their service life, as well as add new pipes to future-proof water connections in this area.
To complete this work safely, we closed a section of the Puari ki Papanui - Papanui Parallel cycleway for four weeks, starting from Wednesday 2 July 2025.
The cycleway has now reopened. You'll see us working on other parts of our worksite until late August 2025. Please see the map below for more information about the road closures currently in place.

Work impacts
We've split this work up into three zones:
- Zone one: Mid-July to late August 2025
- Zone two: Wednesday 2 July to early August 2025 (cycleway section has now reopened)
- Zone three: Mid-July to late August 2025
