From February 2019, we will be removing the rest of the Paul Kelly and Deans stands, which are the two remaining stands on the Lancaster Park stadium site. We have already removed the roofs of both stands.

The remainder of the stands will be removed using a mixture of cranes and other long reach demolition excavators. We expect this technique to help minimise noise and disruption to local businesses and residents. The work is expected to be completed in December this year.

Residents and local businesses will notice an increase in trucks and traffic in the area throughout this time as material is removed from the site. Trucks will be directed to State Highway 76 via Lismore and Wilson Roads.

We are planning to truck all concrete from the stands to the Lyttelton Port Company for its land reclaim project. The concrete will be broken down before it can be removed from the site by truck. We will monitor this work closely to minimise noise and dust.

We will have traffic management in place on Lismore Street as we had when the Tui stand was demolished. Unfortunately we will have to remove up to five carparks on Lismore Street during this time. Traffic cones and signage will need to remain in place for safety reasons. Please take extra care in this area while this work is underway.

We appreciate your continued understanding as we undertake this work.

We will continue to post demolition updates on the Council's Newsline page at ccc.govt.nz/newsline. To see what's happening on site via a webcam, or to register for our newsletter updates, visit ccc.govt.nz/lancasterpark.
