Grade: Intermediate. Distance: 6km

The Ōpāwaho Heathcote River Network hosts this relatively easy two-hour walk, which will take in four reserves that border the river.

Starting and ending at the South Library (meet on the front lawn), your guides from the Ōpāwaho Heathcote River Network will take you through the Ernle Clarke, Purau, Donkey Track and Farnley Reserves, while explaining on the way the history of the reserves and how the community groups work in them. Find out also about how you can help improve the Ōpāwaho Heathcote River.

While relatively easy, this walk includes a large number of steps up and is therefore not suitable for prams.

Bring a hat, sunblock and a water bottle. Dogs must be on a leash at all times. There is a cafe at the end of the walk.  If cancelled due to adverse weather, there is no postponement date.
