To mark Waitangi Day on Sunday 6 February 2022 a selection of Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga's heritage places will be open for free, including Te Whare Waiutuutu Kate Sheppard House.

We hope you take some time to visit one of the many historic places that represent the many layers of history that are centuries deep, beginning with the arrival of Māori to Aotearoa New Zealand.

As a nation, we are enriched when we know the past and this is the perfect day to do that. We wish you and your whānau a day of reflection and celebration of the nation that we are all proud to call home.
