St Paul's | come and see

Visit this nineteenth-century Papanui church and learn about its history, including the bells and historic graveyard.

St Paul's Anglican Church was built in 1877, on the site of an earlier church. The church will be open, and visitors can enjoy this historic building which has been restored and repaired following the earthquakes, formally re-opening in 2013.

As well as viewing a display of photographic and historical material, visitors can learn about the eight bells in our bell tower which chimed in 1880 to mark the consecration of the church.

Visit the graveyard in which the first burial took place in 1853 and see the resting place of a number of notable Cantabrians.

Optional supervised bell tower tours may be available.
