Pōhutukawa

Pōhutukawa is a sound and movement experience in collaboration with local artists and musicians.

Pōhutukawa is a sound and movement experience created by Byllie-Jean in collaboration with local story weavers – taonga pūoro practitioner Mahine Kaui, the cousin duo Seta Timo and Iona Ulaula holding rhythm, Grace Thorpe and Ani Oriwia (vocals), and a guest appearance by our current artist in residence Asher Newbery.

This collaborative performance journeys the cyclic phases of reflection, death, potential and the spaces between.

This event is part of Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre's Matariki 2022 celebrations.
