Christchurch, our biggest NYE party is back! NYE22 will feature Australasian music icons Dragon who will be bringing their well-known hits April Sun in Cuba, Rain, Are You Old Enough and more to the stage! 1 Drop Nation, Amber Williams and local artist Sam Heselwood will support.

NYE22 will start with interactive fun for the whole family and entertainment from Music with Michal plus a kids' countdown, before the main show.

It wouldn’t be New Year's without a huge midnight fireworks display. A large range of food trucks will be selling delicious treats on the night.

This is a smoke-free, vape-free and alcohol-free event (24-hour liquor ban). For quick entry leave your bags at home as these may be searched on entry. No glass allowed.

How are you getting to NYE22?

Driving? Drop off point is on Rolleston Avenue, near Christ’s College. Use our interactive map(external link) to easily find central city parking.

Biking or scootering? Bike stands will be located inside Hagley Park. Scooter parking zones are on Park Terrace.

Busing? Metro buses will operate on the Saturday timetable this New Year’s Eve. Find info on bus routes here(external link).   

Mobility parking will be on Chester Street West (off Park Terrace). A mobility pass must be visible to gain access.

  • For quick entry, don't bring a bag as bags may be searched on entry
  • Blankets & chairs welcome but please note later in the evening you may have to pack these up
