Join rongoā practitioners as they celebrate Matariki, the Maori New Year, with a dawn karakia and tree planting as a symbol of new beginnings, at the rongoā garden, Styx.
The dawn planting will be followed by a hui where we share some kai and discuss the plans for this new park. You are welcome to come along and hear the ideas and share your thoughts.
If dawn is a bit too early for you, you can join us at 10am for a second planting event. We will be planting native trees and shrubs and we’d love your help. This planting event is suitable for families and is also one of our Children’s University accredited events.
Dress warm with sturdy footwear – gumboots and layers recommended. If you can, bring your own spade and gloves – there will be some provided, including child-sized spades.
