This experience allows you to step inside Sir Ed’s Antarctic hut and find out what life was like living in the world’s most extreme environment.

In 1957 and 1958 Hillary’s Hut was used as a base for 23 men engaged in exploration and important scientific research as part of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (TAE) and the New Zealand party of the International Geophysical Year (IGY).

This ground-breaking virtual reality experience is suitable for ages nine and up and bookings are essential.

Free bookings will open on 1 September at nzaht.org.

This experience is available free of charge thanks to Principal Sponsor Ryman Healthcare, New Zealand Tour Sponsor Dulux NZ, and supporters Staples VR and Antarctica New Zealand.
