Celebrate the year of the dragon at the Happy Chinese New Year Festival! Our event extracts the essence of the real celebration in China.

Join us for a fun-filled weekend of celebrations with lanterns, live shows, food stalls, fireworks and more! The lighting ceremony will take place at 9pm on the Friday evening.

Spring Festival, also known as Lunar New Year, marks the Chinese community's biggest celebration of the year. The festival originated over 4,000 years ago in history. It is a celebration for families to get together to sweep away any ill fortune and to make way for incoming good luck. This festival is widely celebrated around the world.

The pyrotechnic display that is taking place at Hagley Park on Friday 9th February as part of the Happy Chinese New Year Festival is exempt from the fireworks ban currently in place. There will not be sky lanterns at this event. Click here for full details.
