An Antarctic enthusiast from the New Zealand Antarctic Society will provide a live commentary detailing Christchurch’s ties to the ice and pointing out key sites of Antarctic significance around the central city tram route.

The 40-minute tour will take place onboard a vintage tramcar – dating from the days of Antarctic exploration in the early 1900s and specially decorated for the occasion by the New Zealand Antarctic Society.

The tour departs from and ends at Tram Stop 2 in Cathedral Square. The event is part of the Days of Ice festival event calendar, and is family-friendly and suits all ages.

Seats are limited so bookings are essential. Children are free when accompanied by an adult.
